Using a laptop on holiday and getting access to the Internet and your email required some careful consideration and planning - not least of all, do you need and do you want to be checking your email when away?

For many people, there is no complete escape from email and being able to quickly check everything is well and nothing requiring urgent attention is waiting in your inbox can allow your time away to be more relaxing and better than worrying what's waiting in your email for your return.

Of course, a familiar laptop and Internet access can be very useful for researching local attractions and days out when on holiday - so there are positive reasons to be prepared in any case.

There are two basic choices for getting connected when away on holiday - Go prepared and be as self-sufficient as possible, or use the Internet and Email facilities (if provided) at your destination.  We strongly suggest being prepared in advance if you need reliable Internet and email access when away as on-site facilities can be either non-existent, broken or in great demand.  Non of these will make for a relaxing or restful experience.
